AS part of this year’s International Workers Day, popularly referred to as May Day, awards were presented to workers who had distinguished themselves in their field of work.
This year’s event took place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
One of the awardees was Sister Teresa Nadia Abugah, the Noble Lady of Court 120, Ashaiman.
A citation accompanying her award, which was presented to him by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, acknowledged Sis Abugah’s hard work, commitment and dedication to work including building the capacity of more than 1,000 women across the country. Her attitude and punctuality to work was described as par excellence.
Sis Abugah was also recognized for her singular effort in seeing to the payment of compensation of a worker who lost four of his right fingers in an industrial accident in Tema.
“As Head of Social Protection and Occupational Safety, Health and Environment of TUC, through your relentless effort, a 21 year old worker at Bio Plastics in Tema, who had occupational accident in 2016 which led to the loss of 4 (four) of his right hand fingers finally had his compensation paid in 2017,” the citation read.
