THE Chaplain of the St Thomas Acquinas Catholic Church of the University of Ghana, Rev Fr Wisdom Larweh, has appealed to parents and guardians to encourage their children to join the priesthood or the religious vocation.
He urged parents and guardians not to use the weaknesses of their wards to discourage them from joining the religious vocation.
He made the call in a homily to mark Good Shephered Sunday at the St Sylvanus Catholic Church, Pokuase on April 26, 2015.
The day also marked the first anniversary of the consecration of the Junior Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, 75 J, Queen of Patriachs at the parish.
In attendance were Junior Marshallans from the Accra West Region led by the Regional Youth Co-ordinator, Bro Francis Ackon.
God chooses the weak
Rev Fr Larweh said God never called perfect or righteous people to His vineyard citing examples of the apostle Peter, St Paul, Isaiah and Hosiah.
He explained that God often selected the frail for His work so that such people can always depend on God and also appreciate that their work was of God.
Devotion to God
Rev Fr Larweh said because God often chose the weak such persons must devote themselves entirely to God.
He said just as the call to priesthood or the religious, persons entering the marriage vocation must also devote themselves entirely to spouses.
The Junior Grand Knight, Jnr Bro Anthony Ashiboe Mensah, thanked the leadership of the Noble Order for its support over the past one year.
He appealed to parents to allow their children to join the Junior Order.
On behalf of the Junior Order, he presented an undisclosed amount to support the church’s school project.
