Continue to be steadfast- Says Very Rev Fr, Nkrumah

Very Rev. Fr. David Nkrumah, Parish Priest of St Anthony Catholic Church, Axim has urged Christians to continue to be steadfast in their belief and faith despite mundane challenges.

In a homily at a thanksgiving Mass to mark the climax of the tenure of office of Most Respected Lady Sister Margeret Yirenkyi as the 21st Grand Lady of the Ladies of Marshall, Very Rev, Fr. Nkrumah said Christians, particularly leaders,  should not be disturbed by seeming obstacles as encountered by her.

Very Rev Nkrumah was happy that through the determination of MRL Sis Yirenkyi and her innovativeness and charisma, and with the active support of her peers, she was  able to build upon the successes chalked up by her predecessors.

Concelebrants at the Mass were Very Rev, Fr, Peter Ekou Kaitoo, Cathedral Administrator of Sekondi-Takoradi Catholic Diocese and Rev.Fr. Nii Noye Dowuona, Parish Priest of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Tarkwa.

Very Rev Fr Nkrumah said the pain of leadership in Ghana was that you were often criticized and insulted, not respected and often abused by the people you accept to lead..

He, however, said leaders must always stay focus to bear good fruits and with such a focus, leaders often succeed.

According to him, MRL Sis Yirenkyi accepted the challenge of leadership and fought a good fight to the end.

Very Rev Fr Nkrumah said it was in that sphere that she had come to give thanks to God for seeing her through her two-year reign.

He urged all leaders to stay close to God so that God will also see them through their tenure as leaders.

Present at the Mass were brothers and sisters of the Western Regional Councils and Courts, the Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Mr Kobby Okyere Darko, and some luminaries of the Noble, Order including PSKs Edward Prah, James Adomako, Joseph Ekow Paintsil, MRLs Sisters Margeret Gaisie- Elsilfie and Dame Theresa Pobee.

After the Mass, MRL Sis Yirenkyi donated a double- decker refrigerator to the St. Matthews Church and 100 Kente stoles for use by priests in the Diocese.

Also at the Mass, the Committee of Past Grand Ladies presented a framed Citation to MRL Sis Yirenkyi which espoused, among others, her hard-Work and achievements during her two- year reign,
