Asantehene desires to be made an honorary member of the Noble Order

THE Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed the desire to be made an honorary member of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall.

He pledged his support to the Noble Order to ensure that it achieved its set goals.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed the desire to be made an honorary member when members of Council Three (3) and Court One (1) paid a courtesy call on him on January 1, 2016 to invite him take part in the 80th anniversary celebration of the consecration of Council 3, Kumasi.

His request was met with applause from brothers and sisters including the Junior Order who were present at the palace.

Prior to that, Otumfuo Osei Tutu inspected a guard of honour mounted by brothers and sisters of the Noble Order including the Junior Marshallans.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu is a baptized Catholic and a communicant. In May last year, the Asantehene was invited by Pope Francis to the Vatican where the two leaders conferred on a number of issues.

Pope Francis later presented Otumfuo Osei Tutu with a copy of the Evangelii Gaudium and a Medallion of the Pontificate of Pope Francis, which signifies a deep sense of relationship between the Church and Chieftaincy.

Led by W/Bro Rev. Fr. James Bour-Mensah, chairman of the 80th anniversary planning committee, the delegation also presented assorted hard liquor, a carton of imported schnapps and an undisclosed sum to the Asantehene.

The visit to the Manhyia palace was facilitated by Bro. Dr. Anthony Osei  (Manwarehene).

W/Bro Rev Fr Buor-Mensah, on behalf of the Council briefed Otumfuo  Osei Tutu on the activities to mark the celebrations.

After receiving the gifts, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, expressed his appreciation for the visit and declared his delight to be an honorary  member of the Council .

In attendance were Sir Kt. Bros D.S.O Annan, Nana Sefa Darko II ,T.F.K  Gambrah, J.R Groffie, W/Bros. Henry O.K Antin, E.K Adjei (IPGK) and other brothers from the Council.

Others are M.R.L Sis Margaret Gaisee Esseffie, Janet Edith Mmieh, Agnes Amofa and other sisters of Court 1
