Touching lives the Marshallan way – Accra West visits Children’s hospital

THE ACCRA West Region of the Knights and Ladies of Marshal (KLM) on December 2, 2016, took their humanitarian mission to the Princess Marie Louis (PML) Hospital in Accra, with a presentation of assorted items to the facility.
The items, valued at GH₵ 5000, comprised soft drinks, disinfectants, ceiling fans, and toiletries, and a cheque of GH₵ 1000.
Led by the Regional Grand Knight (RGK), Worthy Brother Everistus Kuatsinu and the Accra West Regional Noble Lady, Respected Lady Sis Doris Bramson, the team presented the items to the authorities of the hospital.
A Principal Nursing Officer at the Out Patient Department (OPD), Mrs Peace Sodokpo, received the items on behalf of the management.
Visits to the wards
Together with the nurses at the hospital, the members of KLM went to all the wards, distributing the items to the patients and wishing them speedy recovery.
At all the wards, the relatives of the patients on admission showed visible signs of excitement at the kind gesture.
Call to love
Worthy Brother Kuatsinu explained that the initiative to donate to the Children’s Hospital was in response to the divine call to be charitable to the sick and needy, adding that it was a core practice of the Catholic Church to show love.
“The foundation of Christianity is on love and support for the poor and needy, and so as a group, we see it prudent to put smiles on the faces of the sick as required of us.
Or mere presence here has put smiles on the faces of the sick and their families here, and this is fulfilling because smiles is a good beginning to good health,” he said.
Peaceful elections
Worthy Brother Kuatsinu used the opportunity to call on the public to be at peace with each other as the country heads to the polls on December 7.
He said the process of electing a leader was biblical and that it was important for political parties, the Electoral Commission (EC) and other actors in the electoral process to play their roles well in the interest of national peace and cohesion.
“There can be no good health system, vibrant educational system, or improved standard of living if there is no peace. So, this election should not divide the country or disturb the peace of the country,” he added.
Appreciation
Mrs Sodokpo thanked the members of the Accra West KLM for the decision to donate to the PML Hospital.
She called on other organisations and individuals to support the facility to deliver improved health care to all children.
