27J wins Eastern Regional quiz competition.

MOTHER of Good Counsel, 27J, Akim Oda has won the Eastern Regional Junior Order Quiz competition.

The competition, which was organised by the Eastern Regional Knights and Ladies of Marshall, formed part of the activities to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Noble Order.

At the end of the competition, 27J, represented by JBro Justine Naab and JSis Emmanuella Asawada, emerged the winners with 75 points while 6J represented by JBro Felix Adofo Sesenyo and JBro Courage Gbekor were first runners up with 68 points and 52 J, represented by JSis Doreen Asuako and JBro  Vincent Boateng, coming placing third with 67 points .

Held on July 30, 2016, at the Pope John Senior High School (SHS) Minor Seminary at Koforidua, the quiz was hosted by Our Lady of Fatima Junior Counil and Court, 6J.

The contestants were drawn from the junior councils and courts from Region such as 6J, Koforidua (Our Lady of Fatima); 27J, Akim Oda (Mother of Good Counsel); 46J, Akosombo (Queen of the Holy Rosary); 52J,Asamankese; (Mother full of Grace); 53J, Odumase-Krobo (Virgin Most Faithful); and 81J, Nsawam-Adoagyiri (Queen Most High).

The areas

Sir Knight Bro Charles Appiasi, was the Quiz Master with Sis Bliss Bedjabeng, PNA of Court 34, Akim-Oda as time keeper and Sis Susana Asiedua of Court 9, Koforidua, the score mistress .

The contestants answered four rounds of questions which were taken from  the 50 chapters of the book of Genesis, the Gospel of St Luke, Catholic Doctrine and Catechism, History of Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Life History of Sir James Marshall, Life History of St Anthony of Padua and the History of the Junior Order.

The Regional Grand Knight, W/Bro Kwame Boamah Dwira, praised the contestants for exhibiting an in-depth knowledge in the Scriptures, the Noble Order and the Church Doctrine.

He admonished them to study hard and not to rest on their oars whilst congratulating them for their great performance.

W/Bro Dwira commended the organisers whose tireless efforts had made the event a successful and memorable one.

Team work

The Noble Lady of Court 9, Sis Benedicta Foli, advised that contestants to work as a team to progress in life.

She also used the occasion to caution the youth against any malpractices during the  general elections in December this year.

Awards

Contestants were all presented with Rosaries for their participation

W/Bro Dwira presented the first prize to the winning team (27J) while the Regional Youth Coordinator, Sir Knight Bro. Joseph Tabiri Mensah, and the Noble Lady of Court 9, Sis Benedicta Foli presented the second and third prizes respectively.
