As part of its charity works, Council 98 and Court 100,Santasi of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall on Sunday donated five sewing machines to parishioners of the St Matthew Parish at Kufuor Camp in the Ashanti region.
The group also paid the apprenticeship fees for all the five beneficiaries.
The donation was to help the parishioners to acquire a vacation that will make them productive and earn a living.
The parish, located in the Atwima Mponua district is a predominantly farming community and is one of the deprived areas in the region.
Presenting the items, the Grand Knight of Council 98, Bro Dr Samuel Bert Kusi Boadi, said the donation was to assist the members come out of poverty and also contribute their quota to the development of the church and the nation.
He said one of the objectives of the society was to help the needy.
According to him, the society was aware of the conditions in the community and decided to support the five members with the machines and also enroll them into apprenticeship as a way of curbing the prevalence of poverty in the area.
On behalf of the society, Bro Dr Kusi Boadi presented an undisclosed sum of money to the parish to help in its works.
The parish priest, Rev Fr Prince Charles was full of praise for the Marshallans for the donation which he said would go a long way to help the beneficiaries and their families.
He was hopeful that this would not be last time but the beginning of a long lasting relationship between the Marshallans and the church at Kufuor Camp.
