Care for the sick and elderly – Rev Fr Adjei-Appiah

MEMBERS of Council 71 and Court 63, Dansoman on November 7, 2015 jointly organised a special programme for the sick and the elderly.
Led by Bro. Francis Kwegyir-Afful, GK and Sis. Patience Benyarko NL, the programme started with a Mass at the St. Margaret Mary Parish and officiated by Rev. Fr. Bernard Adjei-Appiah (SVD).
The names of 19 brothers and sisters who were indisposed, were submitted for special prayers after which hampers were presented to the sick and elderly.
The Marshallans later visited some of the sick brothers and sisters who could not make it to the Church Service and presented them with their share of hampers.
In his remarks, Rev. Fr. Adjei-Appiah, SVD. stated that the initiative by the Marshallans to organize a special programme for the sick and elderly was very laudable.
In his homily, he stressed the need for Christians to show mercy on the poor and the needy in society because that was the core objective of the Church.
He prayed that God Himself will show mercy for the aged and advised them not to see their current situation as abandonment.
He advised the elderly to put their rich experience in life on paper to benefit the young ones.
After the mass service, there was special blessing offered for the sick and elderly Brothers and Sisters who were able to attend the mass by the celebrant.
Rev Fr Adjei-Appiah urged those undertaking the visitations to carry the blessings along to the sick and the elderly who were not present at the Mass.
The Grand Knight and the Noble Lady, in their short closing remarks thanked the officiating Priest and the Marshallans who made it to the programme.
