Tema Region Holds Office Bearers’ Forum

The Tema Regional Council and Court on Saturday, December 27, 2014 held a forum for office bearers of the component Councils and Courts in the region, namely Council No. 37/Court No. 26 (Tema), Council No 64/Court No. 59 (Teshie-Nungua), and Council No. 89/Court No. 85 (Sakumono).

In attendance at the forum were Grand Knights/Noble Ladies, Deputy Grand Knights/Deputy Noble Ladies, Secretaries, Secretary of Finance, Treasurers, and Guards/Sentries. Also present were some regional officers who helped in facilitating the training session.

Sir Kt. Bro Tony Baffour, a supreme councilor, who addressed participants on the topic “Leadership in the Noble Order” spoke about 20   things which must guide the Grand Knights and Noble Ladies as well as other officers in the discharge of their work. These included the ability to carry the goals of the council or court and those of the noble order to its final goal; honesty and integrity; ability to appreciate the capacity and capabilities of brothers and sisters and delegate appropriate roles based on performance, capabilities and capacity; good communication skills; a sense of humility and respect to all officers and other brothers or sisters so as to enlist their support in carrying out programmes.  The other things he spoke about included: the ability to lobby where and when necessary to get  programmes appreciated and accepted; proper preparation towards meetings, which is possible through the active involvement and participation of the Advisory Board and all other stake holders, the secretariat, finance team, guards and sentries at meetings and finally ensuring that the seven points of the Noble Order serves as a guide always.

After the key-note address participants went into various groups  based on the offices they held, thus Grand Knights and Noble ladies and there deputies were in  one group whilst Secretaries were in another group with Secretaries of Finance, Treasurers and Welfare Officers in another group.

Each group made a presentation of its discussions at plenary. This was followed by discussion of each group’s report.

The Regional Grand Knight, W/Bro. Paul Agyiri, and the Regional Noble Lady, RL Sis. Maud Tamakloe, in their closing remarks thanked the office bearers for attending the forum in their numbers. They hoped that things learnt at the forum would guide them in their work so as to be effective officers in their respective councils and courts.
