Sir Eddie completes tenure on Unum Omnes

Sir Kt Bro Sir Edward Aloysius Prah, the 27th Supreme Knight of the Knights of Marshall, completed his tenure as President of the International Council of Catholic Me, Unum Omnes on Monday, 18th October 2021.

He has served on the world body for 12 years, first as the Vice President for six years, and as President for another six years.

He is the first African to occupy that office in the nearly 70 years of the life of Unum Omnes.

Sir Edward’s association with Unum Omnes began in 2009, when he represented the Knights of Marshall at a General Assembly held that year in Schmochtitz, Germany.

Even though he did not go to the Assembly as a nominee for any position or office on the Bureau, he was nominated and elected as one of its Vice Presidents.

Addressing a virtual  General Assembly held on 18th October 2021, Sir Edward pointed out that the Church needs and wants to hear the collective voice of Unum Omnes on many of the challenges facing the church today.

He said Unum Omnes ought to be more proactive, speaking out not only about matters concerning the Church, but also on many of the human issues of the world, especially those bordering on the lack of respect for the dignity of the poor, the vulnerable and the marginalised in our societies.

Unum Omnes is one of the 122 Catholic lay groups that the Dicasteries for Laity, Family and Life and Integral Human Development deal with often and have lots of expectations from.

Unum Omnes is expected to deliver on the 7-year Laudato Si Action Plans and be active in the Synodal Church Process due to begin soon.

The new President of Unum Omnes is the immediate Past Secretary General, Seamus Mc Donald from Ireland.

The two Vice Presidents are from Nigeria and Italy  while the Treasurer is from Kenya.
