Queen of Mercy, 18J wins Junior Quiz finals

The Noble Order of the Knights of Marshall, a Catholic friendly Society, has climaxed its 90th anniversary with a National Junior Quiz Competition at the St. Francis of Assisi Basic School at Anaji, Takoradi.

The keenly contested quiz was won by Queen of Mercy, 18J,  represented by Jnr. Bro. Dennis Yeboah Twumasi and Jnr. Sis. Comfort Kesewa Acheampong of 18J.

With a total of 122 points over five rounds, the pair beat off competition from four other groups, including Refuge of Sinners, Gate of Heaven, Queen of Patriarchs, and Virgin of Virgins.

The closest contenders, Refuge of Sinners, 72J,  represented by Jnr. Bro. Ansbert Kraikue and Jnr. Sis Sheena Arhinful-Mensah, as well as Gate of Heaven, 12J, represented by Jnr. Bro. Dennis Kemevor and Jnr. Sis. Lilian Ahedor, got 99 points and 88 points to place second and third respectively.

For their prizes, the winners were each presented with a certificate, a parcel and a trophy, while the second to fifth place winners were also given parcels and a certificate.

 

The contest

The keenly contested quiz competition covered questions on Bible knowledge, the history on the formation of the Society, knowledge about Sir James Marshall and St. Anthony of Padua, after whom the Society was named, and Patron Saint respectively. It also covered the Church doctrines.

The quiz master was Rev. Fr. Ebuley Afful, In-Charge of refugees and migrants in the Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi.

Advice

The Supreme Knight, Sir Kt. Bro.Ernest Amoako-Arhen advised the youth to be disciplined by refraining from any form of examination malpractices in school. and circumspect in their speeches.

He further entreated them to be advocates of peace and not allow themselves to be used by others to foment violence before, during and after the upcoming general election on December 7, 2016.
