KNOW YOUR DEPUTY SUPREME KNIGHT – W/BRO CHARLES COBB

The Deputy Supreme Knight, Worthy Bro Charles Cobb was initiated into the Noble Order on June 6, 1996 by Council 29, Sunyani as part of the foundation members of Council 65, Techiman, where he became the Grand Knight in 2002.

He was later appointed as the Brong Ahafo Regional Master of Ceremonies in 2006 and elected Deputy Regional Grand Knight in 2008 and installed Regional Grand Knight in 2010.

By dint of hardwork as Regional Grand Knight on the Standing Committee of the Supreme Council, W/Bro Cobb was appointed Assistant Supreme Propagandist for Ashanti/Brong Ahafo Regions in 2013 and later appointed the Substantive Supreme Propagandist in 2015.

He was elected Deputy Supreme Knight in 2017 at the 91st Supreme Council meeting.

Role

During his tenure as Regional Grand Knight for the Brong Ahafo Region, W/Bro Cobb introduced Regional Games and Regional Socialisation via which members of the Order engaged members of the Knights and Ladies Auxiliary of St. John of the region. He also introduced Annual Orientation programme for Deputy Grand Knights and Deputy Noble Ladies in the region before they ascend the chair.

It was during his tenure that the erstwhile Brong Ahafo Region celebrated its silver Jubilee.

He is a member of the Supreme Council ICT Committee.

As Supreme Propagandist, Worthy Bro Cobb facilitated the consecration of 23 new Adult Councils and increased the number of Regional Councils from 24 to 27 and State Councils from one to two.

He instituted a quarterly meeting with all Assistant Supreme Propagandists during which each of them was expected to report on activities within their jurisdictions, particularly on their programmes on expansion activities to enable Councils to be indexed to Parishes.

He was part of the advance team that prepared the grounds for the entry of the Order into Sierra Leone and it was under his tenure that the Noble Order penetrated into Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire. It was within his tenure as Supreme Propagandist that Order made an entry into northern Togo with the consecration of a Council in Dapaong in the Togo/Benin State after eight years of inactivity.

Business

He worked with Ghana Telecon/Vodafone since 1996 and rose through the ranks as Commercial Manager, Regional Manager and General Manager. He exited Vodafone Ghana as Head of Fixed Service Delivery in 2012 and currently consults in Marketing, Sales and Customer Care and Director of various enterprises. He is also engaged in modern farming in an around the year production of vegetables and other annual arable crops.

He is married to Sis Sophia Cobb Regional Secretary of finance of the Brong Ahafo North  Region and they have four children.

 

Education

He is a graduate of the University of the KNUST, Kumasi and an MBA (Marketing) holder from the University of Ghana Business School.

 

Church activities

He is the immediate past PPC Vice Chairman and before that Chairman of the Laity Council of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Community 8, Tema.

He has served two terms on the Catholic Knighthood Forum and serves on the Archdiocesan DEPSOCOM Committee
