Ghana gets 10th Apostolic Nuncio

Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinki as new Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana.

He becomes the 10th Nuncio to Ghana and replaces His Excellency Archbishop Jean Marie Speich, who was reassigned to Kosovo on March 19, 2019..

The announcement was contained in a press release signed by the Charge d’Affairs at the Apostolic Nunciature in Ghana, Rev Monsignor Pavol Talakpa in Accra today, May 3, 2020.

“With this new appointment is also his promotion to the rank of an Archbishop by Pope Francis,” it stated.

A Polish by birth, Monsignor Jagodzinki was born on January 11, 1969 in Malogoszcz, Poland.

He was ordained a priest on June 3, 1995 and was incardinated in the Diocese of Kielce.

Monsignor Jagodzinki obtained a Doctorate Degree in Canon Law from the Pontifical University of Holy Cross, Rome in 2001. In preparation for his Diplomatic Service, he studied at the Pontifical Eccelsiastical Academy in Rome from 1999 to 2001.

He then entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on July 1, 2001.

Monsignor Jagodzinki has served at the Holy See Secretariat of State and Apostolic Nunciatures in Belorussia, Croatia and India.

From 2018 until his appointment as Aspostolic Nuncio to Ghana, he was assigned First Counsellor in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

He speaks Polish, his native language, Italian, French, English, Croatian, Russian and Spanish.
