A COMMUNIQUE ADOPTED AT THE 8TH MARSHALLAN RE-UNION CONFERENCE A COMMUNIQUE ADOPTED AT THE 8TH MARSHALLAN RE-UNION CONFERENCE HELD AT THE KWAME NKRUMAH UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY KUMASI FROM 2ND TO 4TH AUGUST 2013

We, the members of the Noble Order of Knights and Ladies of Marshall MEETING at our 8thMarshallan Re-Union Conference held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana from 2nd to 4th August 2013; and

HAVING discussed various topics under the theme “Deepening the Faith of the Marshallan for Effective Evangeliszation”; and,

TAKING INTO consideration our unalloyed faith in the Catholic Church and the tenets of our Order; and

IMBUED with a spirit and sense of national identity; and

DETERMINED to apply our knowledge, skills and resources to the upliftment of the disadvantaged in our communities;

DO HEREBY ADOPT THIS COMMUNIQUE THAT WE:

  1. Will Continue and even step up our commitment to our Church as led by the Episcopacy;
  2. Pledge to undertake study programmes that will help deepen our  knowledge and understanding of the Word of God and with that become effective tools for evangelization, taking advantage of the vast, diverse and quality human resource within the Order;
  3. Will Increase our social interventions in favour of the disadvantaged, especially, children, women and persons who suffer disability;
  4. Recognise the current political, economic, social and cultural challenges that occasion our daily lives as the Lord’s Vineyard into which all Marshallans, as Christians, are called to work as God’s labourers, while urging all citizens to commit themselves to peace as we nurture our young but enviable democracy;
  5. Pledge to ensure that the youth of the Church have unfettered access to Christian education and are effectively guided in their Christian growth and future security;
  6. Condemn in no uncertain terms the creeping tendencies and subtle promotion of practices of trokosi, female genital mutilations, widowhood rites, homosexuality and lesbianism as well as the imperceptible emergence of Same-Sex Marriage in our communities and call on government and all social agencies to work conscientiously to remove those practices and tendencies;
  7. Urge all our members as well as all Christians to show interest in national politics and support those that have the capacity to actively engage in them;
  8. Call on all Catholics and social leaders to cultivate the habit of boldly speaking against social evils;
  9. Undertake to contribute resources, monetary or in-kind, to enable the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall adequately and fully carry out its mandate.
