2023 EASTER MESSAGE
MARSHALLANS: DISCIPLES IN THE SERVICE OF THE LORD

“Very early on Sunday morning, the women went to the tomb, carrying the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the entrance to the tomb, so they went in; but they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.” (Lk 24:1-3).
Sir Kts, MRLs, W/Bros., RLs, High Officers, Brothers and Sisters of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed; Alleluia!!
The above introductory quotation from St. Luke’s Gospel is an indication that the women (and the other disciples) who followed Christ at the time of his ministry were still following him even after his death, following him to his grave. They had served him during his life time and were still prepared to serve him even after his death. These are attributes of genuine DISCIPLESHIP and SERVICE.
As a result of their consistent discipleship and service, our Lord rewarded the disciples by revealing himself to them with its accompanying blessings:
“Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Peace be with you.” They came up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshipped him.” (Matthew 28:9).

As Marshallans, Catholics, and Christians, the Resurrection reminds us, among other things, to exhibit attributes of genuine discipleship and render selfless service. Let us faithfully follow our Lord Jesus and continue to serve him and mankind. If we are consistent with our discipleship and service, as his followers did, we shall come face to face with our Lord and Saviour with its accompanying blessings and spiritual benefits. The Lord continues to remind us: “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.” (Matthew 25:40).
Fortunately for us Catholics and Marshallans, the Church has arranged a practical and spiritual process for us in such a way that the Lenten Season precedes the Resurrection. This period of Lent offers us what we need to climb the mountain in our lives – prayer, fasting, penance, almsgiving.
Subsequently, during this period of Easter and thereafter, Brothers and Sisters, we are reminded to play our role effectively and genuinely as disciples of Christ with a strong resolve to serve God and neighbour, as depicted in our motto: Unity, Fraternity, Charity and Service. This is certainly a call to Discipleship and Service; and let us respond positively to the Lord.
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed; Alleluia!!
Wishing all Marshallans a Happy and Blessed Easter.
