Wa Mangu Marshallans donate to JIRAPA ORPHANAGE.

The Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Council 113 and Court 108 of the Noble Order a Catholic Friendly Society at St. Cecilia Parish, Mangu a suburb of the Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region

at a colourful ceremony donated assorted items such as maize, rice, soap, toilet rolls, oranges, loaves of bread, beverages and many consumables worth over GH¢700.00 to the Jirapa Orphanage.
Rev. Sister, Celine Tietaar a retired nurse and Head of the orphanage welcome the group to the Orphanage.
She gave a brief background report of the establishment of the Orphanage as far back in the 1939. It was started by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters (FMM); a Catholic Religious Congregation of Women.
The orphanage was perching on temporary structure within the Catholic Mission at Jirapa and finally moved to the present facility in 2001, which was built and donated by Mr. Paul de Sio, an Orphan who grew up from the Orphanage.
Mr. Paul de Sio was supported by  the Late Cardinal Peter Puorekuu Dery.   Mr.  Paul de Sio now lives in Italy.
The Orphanage has a total number of 19 children comprising of 11 females and 8 males.

Rev Sis. Tietaar said before an orphan is admitted into the facility he/she has to go through medical screening for ailment such as malaria and the six killer diseases for treatment.
Taking delivery of the items on behalf of the orphanage, Rev. Sis. Tietaar a retired nurse and Head of the orphanage thanked the Knights and Ladies of Marshall for the donation.
She was quick to acknowledge the immense contribution of philanthropists, benevolence civil societies, individuals as well as the Knights and Ladies of Marshall who kept the orphanage alive.
Sir Kt. Bro. Gregory Segdong on behalf of the group said the plight of the orphans was very deep to the heart of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall which has therefore necessitated the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, St. Cecilia’s Parish in Wa to come to the aid of the orphans and to give them joy by interacting with them.
