The Airport West branch of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, has over a three-unit multipurpose kindergarten classroom block to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Basic School at Dzolo Gbogame in the Ho West District.
The facility, which comes with a teachers’ common room and a washroom, is expected to improve access to basic education.
It will also significantly reduce pressure on the church building which was currently serving as a makeshift classroom for the children.
The Marshallans say the gesture borne out of benevolence, would address infrastructural challenges at the school’s kindergarten level to enable it run its three streams smoothly.
Handing over
Members of the Catholic fraternal organization, Council 115 and Court 110 Airport West, undertook the GHc300,000 project as part of the society’s 2022 charity project and in a response to an appeal for help by Rev. Fr. Samuel Kornu, a native of the town.
At a handing over ceremony last Sunday, Rev Fr. Kornu said the structure of the church building provided little atmosphere for utmost concentration for serious academic work to ensue.
That, he said, motivated him to begin soliciting funds towards the construction of a pavilion for the children to free up the church for other religious activities.
He said the Marshallans upon being notified, gathered resources for the construction of a proper classroom block for the school.

He urged parents to be committed to unearthing their children’s inherent qualities to complement their academic work for a holistic education.
Outstanding challenges
The headmaster of the school, Francis Ntem speaking to the Daily Graphic expressed his gratitude to the Marshallans for the project, and added that the new building would bring much reprieve to the school.
