INFORMATION NOTE DOCUMENT – GUIDE FOR PARTICIPANTS
90th Anniversary Celebration of the Noble Order – Climax of Events
On behalf of the Supreme Director and the Supreme Knight, the Planning Committee and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) welcome you to Sekondi-Takoradi for the Climax of the 90th Anniversary Celebration which will be held from 10th to 13th of November, 2016. The temporary ‘headquarters’ for the Planning Committee/LOC will be the Ahenfie Hotel in Takoradi from 9th to 13th November, 2016. The hotel can be found opposite Star of the Sea Cathedral, Takoradi. The general telephone number is 0312021267. Please find some useful contact phone numbers of some Brothers and Sisters for further information and or clarification (see below).[1] The climax Thanksgiving Mass will be held at the Star of the Sea Cathedral in Takoradi (see Annex I for directions to the Cathedral).
As you are aware, the Noble Order has chosen the theme “The Marshallan and the New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Faith” for the 90th Anniversary Celebration. The Climax of events includes the following: (i) Marshall Moreau Murat Memorial (MMMM) Lectures; (ii) National Youth Quizz; (iii) Dinner-Dance & Awards; (iv) Parade and Exhibition; (v) Climax Thanksgiving Mass

- ACCOMMODATION
- The Local Organizing Committee has made arrangements for accommodation at various hotels and “hostels”, in Sekondi-Takoradi at discounted rates. The details can be found at the website of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall as well as in the document on accommodation accompanying this Information Note Document. Brothers and Sisters have a choice to, either (i) book their accommodation through the LOC, or (ii) make direct bookings at any of the hotels or hostels listed. There will be no block booking and so those who wish to use the good services of the LOC should contact Bro. Nick Tawiah (Council 101) on Tel. Number 0506435330 for further details. - To avoid/minimize transportation challenges, the hotels listed in the Annex of this Information Note will be served by transport to and from the events venues at specified periods(see below).
- TRANSPORTATION
As stated above, transport is being arranged to ply prescribed routes (see Annex II). For further information on this, please contact Bro. Nick Tawiah (see above).
- UPDATES
- MMMM Lectures – Bishop John Bonaventure Kwofie will render the Lectures.
- National Youth Quizz:
- 10 contestants from the respective zones will be fully sponsored by the Supreme Council. Ten Organizing Brothers and Sisters accompanying them (the ten contestants) will also be sponsored by the Supreme Council.
- Dinner- Dance & Awards
- The programme for the dinner-dance & awards event is ready.
- The tickets for the dinner-dance have been produced and are currently on sale. The price per ticket is GHc 120.
- As approved by the Standing Committee, allocation of tickets has been done for each Regional Council/Court. RGKs are expected to collect their allocations and ensure the payment for the tickets assigned them.
- It is to be noted that a live- band will play at the event.
- Awards: – Awards are to be given to four persons (2 brothers & 2 sisters) from each of the respective Regional Councils and Courts. These brothers and sisters are to be nominated by their respective regions. It is noteworthy that a brother or sister cannot be nominated twice; i.e. for both regional and national awards.
- Medals will be given to two categories of brothers and sisters: (i) Those brothers who have been in the Noble Order for 25 – 39 Years; and (ii) Brothers and sisters who have been in Order for 40 Years and more. The modalities for such awards are being finalized.
- Parade & Exhibition
- Parade – Selected Brothers and Sisters from the Western Region will mount the Parade.
- Exhibition – The exhibition will be coordinated by the Exhibition Committee of the Planning Committee and will commence on Friday 11th November, 2016 at 6.00p.m. The venue is the Star of the Sea Cathedral in Takoradi.
- Climax Thanksgiving Mass
- All Catholic Bishops of Ghana, the Apostolic Nuncio, and some dignitaries have been invited.
- The brochure for Thanksgiving Mass will be available for sale.
ANNEX I
Directions to the Star of the Sea Cathedral, Takoradi
From Cape Coast, there is ONLY one TOLL booth that you will come across, at a village called BEPOSO.
- From there you have about 45mins drive (depending on traffic conditions) to Takoradi
- The next important landmark is a Police Barrier at a town called INCHABAN, from the barrier you have about 25mins drive (depending on traffic conditions) to Takoradi
- After about 15mins drive (depending on traffic conditions);
- If you are using a commercial transport, alert the driver/mate that you will alight at the Airport Roundabout (popularly called the EDZII GOIL ROUNDABOUT).
- Since you don’t know there, get an assurance from the driver’s mate that they will alert you to alight when they get there.
- Alight at the Goil roundabout and pick a taxi asking to be taken to the Star of the Sea Cathedral Catholic Church. Please don’t pay anything more than GHC5.00
ALERT!!! AS YOU ALIGHT, BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR LUGGAGE AND YOUR VALUABLES. ENSURE YOUR LUGGAGE IS IN THE TAXI YOU ARE BOARDING BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR SEAT IN THE TAXI.
- If you are driving, at the Edzii Goil Roundabout, take the 4th Exit
- After about 3mins drive, you will see a long school wall on your right painted red, that is the Star of the Sea Cathedral on your right and Vodafone GH on your left
- Slow down and enter through the metal gates.
