THE Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, Most Rev John Bonaventure Kwofie,has called on Christians to desist from negative attitudes such as corruption, religious infidelity and materialism.
He was delivering a homily at the Requiem mass for the late MRL Sis Frances Prah, at the St Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, Roman Hill Kumasi on Saturday, May 28, 2016.
Basing the sermon on the on the topic,”the New Heaven and the New Earth” (Rev.21:1-7), Most Rev. Kwofie observed that man’s final destination was not on earth but rather the heavenly kingdom.
In view of that he said mankind ought to live a life that pleased God.
He described MR:L Sis Prah as a woman who had sterling qualities that endeared her to all who came to her.
”Through her sufferings,she served the Lord faithfully and the Lord honored and rewarded her with 91 years of life on earth,” he said.
The bishop noted that Sir Knight Eddie Prah was one of the pillars of the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese and attributed that virtue of charity to the influence of Most Respected Sister Prah.
Most Rev. Kwofie noted that Sister Prah, having sacrificed her life while on earth, for the Kingdom of God, would keep her life forever.
The Burial Mass
The burial mass was attended by 14 Concelebrating Priests.
The Supreme Director, Sir Knight Veteran Bro. Commander Dr. Edmund S.K. Kwaw, led hundreds of Marshallans to bid farewell to MRL Sis Prah.
The Supreme Knight, Sir Kt Ernest Amoako-Arhen and the Grand Lady, Most Respected Lady Sis Alice Ayebi were all in attendance with other senior officers of the Noble Order such as Sir Kt James Adomako, Sir Kt Samuel Barnes, Sir Kt Prof. Dr. Dr. George Wereko-Brobbey; Sir Kt Anthony Kemavor, Sir Kt Derx Baffour as well as Most Respected Lady Dame Theresa Pobee, MRL Margaret Essilfie-Gaisie; and MRL Margaret Yirenkyi.
Tributes
The Supreme Director described MRL SisPrah as a believer in women’s rights, which made her insist on the status of the Ladies of Marshall.
He recalled that within the Noble Order she advocated for the Ladies of Marshall not to be regarded as an Auxiliary of the Knights of Marshall, but as an independent female branch of the Knights of Marshall.
According to him, MRL Prah also fought for the Supreme Council to grand dispensation for the Ladies to hold their meeting in the Temples of the Brothers in the various cities where temples exist.
The Grand Court said as an educationist, Most Respected Lady Sister Prah brought her attributes of a teacher to bear on her leadership, and that she reigned with forthrightness, consistency and firmness. She was principled and never compromised on truth.
About the late Prah
MRL Sis Frances Prah,one of the greatest pillars behind the noble order of the ladies of Marshall, was the founding member of the Thais Lodge.She played a key role in the merger of the three women groups namely Thais lodge,Catholic daughters of Ghana and the Noble ladies of St Anthony,Togo to form the Noble Order of the ladies of Marshall.
She was the third Noble lady of Court One, Kumasi and became the first Grand Secretary in 1971 when the grand court was inaugurated; a position she held for six years. It was during her tenure as the Grand secretary that Court 10, Ho,t o Court 19 Wa, were consecrated.
Through her optimism and dedicated service,she was elected unopposed as the fourth substantive Grand lady from 1979 to 1981.Her tenure saw the inauguration of courts suc as Court 28 at Monrovia,Liberia,Court 29 at Konongo,Court 30at Axim,Court 31 at Bolgatanga and Court 32 at Offinso
