SOUTHERN REGION OF LIBERIA LAUNCHES THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY

The Southern Regional Council and Court of the Territory of Liberia officially launched the 90th Anniversary of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall with a colorful programme on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Monrovia.

The occasion which brought together hundreds of Brothers and Sisters including Juniors from the six constituent Councils and Courts; viz, Monrovia, Buchanan, Gardnersville, Bushrod Island, Paynesville and Matadi; respectively, and the five constituent Junior Councils and Courts respectively except Matadi which is preparing  consecration.

The highlights of the 90th Anniversary launching programme included a Thanksgiving Mass with Rev. Fr. Alphonso Mombo, the Administrator of Sacred Heart Cathedral, as Chief Celebrant joined by Rev. Frs. Jonathan Whawhen and Johnny Clement Kombo; a launching address by the Regional Grand Knight, W/B Daniel P. M. Kwabo; launching of the Anniversary Projects and fund drive and fellowship sales of food and drinks.

During the Mass, Rev. Fr. Mombo registered the Archbishop’s regret to be present due to his engagement in the Church’s funeral function that was taking place in the Diocese of Cape Palmas, the jurisdiction of the South East Regional Council and Court.

Speaking to Marshallans during the Mass, the Chief Celebrant urged Marshallans to uphold unity in the spirit of humility.

He asked them to ensure that discipline, transparency and accountability remain the hallmarks of the Noble Order.

In his launching address, the Regional Grand Knight, W/Bro. Daniel P. M. Kwabo, re-echoed the theme of the 90th Anniversary: “The Marshallan and the New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Faith”.LIBE2

The RGK urged members to work relentlessly in living the core teachings of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall which are founded on the virtue LOVE. He then entreated all members of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies in the Territory of Liberia, who may feel dis-affected for whatsoever reason(s) to let go; render their membership active; and participate in all activities of the Noble Order and be reconciled to work together for the growth of the Fraternity.

He also used the occasion to give a brief historical background of the Order and its current status and role in the Church.

The Thanksgiving Mass was followed by the launching of a fund drive for the 90th Anniversary projects.

The selected projects for the anniversary include: (1) Land Acquisition for the construction of a multi-purpose facility for the benefit of the Region; (2) Establishment of a Regional Secretariat; and (3) Charity to EBOLA orphans. Brothers and Sisters generously supported the fund raising activity during which Bro. Franklin Dalieh of Council #40 donated 2 acres of land to the Southern Region in support of the Anniversary Projects. The fund raising activities also included sales of food and drinks.

The launching programme was preceded by a well-attended day of recollection organized by the Region for all Brothers and Sisters on February 6, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
