Heaven is the prize my soul shall strive to gain; one glimpse of Paradise repays a life of pain. Yes, Heaven is the prize. My soul, oh think of this; all earthly goods despise, for such a crown of bliss. Faith shows the crown to gain; Hope lights the way and dies; but love will always reign. Death opens wide the door, and then the spirit flies to God forevermore. Yes, Heaven is the prize.
It is with sorrow that we bid our beloved senior brother and founding member S/Kt. Bro. Joseph Vincent Mensah (PSK) whose mortal remains lies before us, yet Heaven is the prize his soul has strived to gain.
S/Kt. Bro. Joseph Vincent Mensah (PSK) was initiated into the Noble Order of the Knights of Marshall on 18th October 1986 at Council 48, Mateheko and later transferred to Council 71 on 6th May 2000 until his demise.
He passed his Lower degree in 1987 and subsequently completed his lower degree in 1988. As a 9th degree brother, his hard work earned him the first best knight of Council 48 and was appointed as a reporter in 1987 and became the secretary in 1988 while with his mother council.
He was appointed and installed Assistant Supreme Publications Officer on 29th January 2000 and became the Supreme Communication Officer in September 2001, a duty he performed with much dexterity when he was the Editor of the Bridge Magazine.
The late High Officer was admired by all who came into contact with. This enabled him serve on several committees as a Chairman of the Junior Order Committee from 2000 to 2001 and an Advisor to the committee from 2002 until he was retired by the leadership of the council due to his frailty.
The Council will remember S/Kt. Vincent Mensah (PSK) for his immense contribution towards the forming of Council 71 and its growth until date for his material and moral support towards the council. Until 2012, He high Officer was a lecturer for 6 & 8 degree lesson and handled Lower degree candidates from 2005 to 2012.
He was recently honoured at the Homecoming Conference held at Winneba for his meritorious contribution to the Bridge Magazine, recruited members for the Noble Order and represented the Supreme Council at National Laity Council annual sessions and what’s more, assisted some lapsed Catholics to return to the faith; worked closely with some catechists to spread the faith and as a member of the Sacred Heart Confraternity assisted some members to consecrate their homes to the Sacred Heart.
We Love you S/Kt. Bro. Joseph Vincent Mensah (PSK) but God loves you most. Brothers of Council 71 will forever miss you for indeed you have left an immeasurable legacy.
The Noble Order of the Knights of Marshall Council 71, Dansoman takes consolation from John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
Fare thee well S/Kt. Joseph Vincent Mensah, ……….. Nyame nnfa wokra nsie, Demirifa Due!
