VERY Rev Fr John Louis, has urged Christians to keep connected to Jesus Christ, who he described as the network for God’s Telecom Network (GTN), operated by God.
He said to remain connected to the GTN, all Christians were expected to constantly charged their batteries, which is ‘faith’ in God.
“All of us gathered here this morning should desire and always pray to remain connected to Jesus’s GTN operated by God, the father in Heaven,” he told the congregation.
Very Rev Fr Louis was delivering his homily to the congregation of the Mary Mother of Good Counsel, Airport where brothers and Sisters of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall in the Accra East Region and their Junior Order, had on May 3, 2015 to commemorate the Feast of Sir James Marshall.
Using an analogy of a mobile phone network operator, Very Rev Fr Louis explained that Christians could remain connected to the GTN as long as they exhibited faith in God, adding that there were two ways of getting disconnected to the GTN and they are lack of faith in God and sin.
“My prayer this morning is that none of us should display lack of faith so that we would forever, as long as we live on earth, be connected to the GTN. I pray that we will be internally connected to Jesus Christ,” he prayed.
Addressing the congregation, the Accra East Regional Grand Knight (RGK), Worthy Brother Kinsford Arthur informed them that the Supreme Council had directed that all Masses said on Feast Day should be in the honour of Bro Francis Anderson, who was killed by armed robbers two weeks ago.
“And so, with the permission of the Priest, I will crave your indulgence to rise as we observe a minute silence in his honour,” the RGK requested the congregation.
He explained that 3rd May had been set aside the world over to celebrate the works and memory of Sir James Marshall, who worked for the re-introduction of the Catholic Faith in West Africa include the then Gold Coast.
“And so, if you and I are celebrating Mass today as Catholics, then it is as a result of the untiring effort of this man, who re-introduced Catholicism in Ghana,” he explained.
W/Bro Arthur announced that in recognition of his efforts and works, the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference had appointed the Bishop of Cape Coast, Most Rev Mathias Nketiah to chair a committee for the beatification of Sir James Marshall.
He said facts and documents were still being gathered to achieve that purpose, “and it is our prayer that these will form a justification for his beatification.”
W/Bro Arthur, who took the congregation through the history of the Noble Order, explained that the day was purposefully planned to coincide with the official announcement of the formation of Council and Court at the Mary Mother of Good Council later in the year.
While thanking the Parish Priest, the Parish Pastoral Council and the entire congregation for the phenomenal growth of the Marshallan fraternity in the parish, the RGK, invited parishioners interested in joining the Noble Order to do so.
The Regional Noble Lady, Respected Lady Sister Dame Afua Amoo-Adare on behalf of the region, donated an undisclosed amount to the parish to support in its developmental activities.
