Brothers and Sisters of Council No. 29 and Court No. 15 (Sunyani) on Sunday, December 28, 2014 organised a banquet as part of activities marking their 40th anniversary.

At the banquet six active pioneer surviving founding members of Council No 29 were honoured with a plaque and a citation. Those honoured were:  Sir Kt. Bro. John Osei-Owusu, Sir Kt. Bro. Albert Kukah, Sir Kt. Bro. John Amankwah Tontoh, W/Bro. Peter Yaw Oppong, W/Bro. Peter Boadi and W/Bro. John Ransford Adu.

The citation which was read and presented to awardees by MRL Sis. Dr. Lucy Acheampong stated in part “Your superior and unflinching support to the creation of Council No 29 and Court No 15 (Sunyani) in the Noble Order is highly laudable. Your ability to predict and adapt quickly in an evolving ever-challenging environment under austere conditions when needed is highly recommendable. Your 40 years of dedication and commitment to council and court cannot go unmentioned. The immense contribution made to your council and court brought all Grand Knights and Noble Ladies of the Order the best administration in this region. Your fatherly and motherly advice, presence and contribution had brought credit to not only Council No.29 and Court No. 15 but also the Brong Ahafo regional Council/Court. May the immensurable efforts made continue to produce abundant fruits to our generations and those yet to come. May God richly bless and reward you for your effort”.

Sir Kt. Bro. John Osei-Owusu who spoke on behalf of the awardees thanked Council and Court for recognizing their contribution to the growth of the Noble Order. He said when council/court were inaugurated and consecrated on December 28, 2014 there were 24 brothers on the charter as founding members, whilst the sisters had 15 on roll. The council can today boast of a membership of 145 out of whom 120 are active, whilst the sisters now have 115 members out of whom 70 are active.

Through the instrumentality of council and court a junior branch of the order was inaugurated on May 7, 1988 under the name 18J going with the appellation Queen of Mercy.  Through the junior order the adult council and court can boast of doctors, lawyers, teachers/educationist, accountants, and priests.

Council/Court had acquired a piece of land and efforts are far advanced to build a temple. The council/court have been charitable to so many institutions and people including sponsoring a diocesan priest through his senior high school to priesthood.

For the future the council/court hopes to continue to help parishes in Sunyani and its environs. The construction of the Temple building remains top on its strategic plan and all brothers and sisters were urged to contribute their quota to make that dream a reality.
