MEMBERS of the Marshallan Association at St Maurice Catholic Church, La, have commemorated their 15th anniversary of the association.
The celebration was launched last year under the theme “the Role of Marshallans in the new evangelization.”
As part of the celebration, members of the Association embarked on several activities such as Charity to brothers & sisters and visitation to deprived communities among other activities.
The celebration was climaxed with a Thanksgiving Mass at the St. Maurice Catholic Church, La on Sunday, 10th May. 2015 with some brothers and sisters from council 63, Madina, Court 20, Winneba, Court 90, Adenta and the Osu Marshallan Association.
Brothers of the Knights of St. John International and the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Maurice Parish were present to grace the occasion.
The Association acknowledged the efforts and dedication of the following founding members:
Sir Kt. Bro. LB Quarshie, W/Bro. Samuel M. Marley, W/Bro. Vincent Mensah Sowah, Bro. William Ako Odoi, Sis. Rejoice Marley, Sis. Martha Odoi, Sis. Vida Marley, Sis. Joyce Laryea and Sis Olivia Jackson.
A handsome donation was made to the church to help in its numerous projects especially the ultra modern Parish hall which is under construction.
The Association began after the burial of late Bro. CA Okerchiri, PGA in 1990.
Due to the smart turn out of brothers and sisters during the burial at St. Maurice La, two parishioners joined Council 10 in 1991 and this began the mobilization of members in the parish to form the Association in 1996.
Since its inauguration in 1999, the association has since had four successful administrations with the following as Past Presidents since its inception: Sir Kt. Bro. LB Quarshie, W/Bro. Samuel M. Marley, Bro. William Ako Odoi, Bro. Robertson Baah, with the current President (5th Administration) as Bro Anthony Ngissah Assuah. The Association now has a total number of 56.
During the period under review, the Association constructed and handed over a grotto to the church and named it “CAUSE OF OUR JOY GROTTO”
