Two more days to first-ever Homecoming

THE Catholic Digest will provide a full video coverage of the three-day Greater Accra Homecoming conference of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall from August 14 to August 16, 2015 to be held at the North Campus of the University of Education, Winneba.

Arrangements have also been made for Metro TV and the Daily Graphic, to cover some of the activities on Saturday, August 15, 2015.

The chairman of the publicity sub-committee, W/Bro Albert Salia told Marshallan.org that arrangements have also been made for live updates of activities on the website and facebook page of the Noble Order.

He, therefore, encouraged brothers and sisters to take active part in the events so that they would be captured in both video and still pictures.

“You cannot afford to be left out in this first ever homecoming conference. We set the pace and others follow. I will, therefore, encourage brothers and sisters to attend in their numbers to make new friends and also make themselves happy,” he said.

Socialisation

Throwing light on the social night activities, a member of the planning committee, Sir Kt Tony Baffour said the socialization activities would be centred at the various halls of residence (JCRs).

He explained that the decision to limit the socialization activities to the JCRs was to allow for more and better interaction among brothers and sisters.

That, he explained, was to ensure that the element of officialdom was reduced.

He, therefore, suggested that councils and courts came up with activities such as ‘jama’ to keep brothers and sisters excited.

The first ever Greater Accra Regional Homecoming conference is taking place five years after the region was reconfigured into three regions, viz Accra West, Accra East and Tema regions.

It will be hosted at the North Campus of the University of Education, Winneba from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16, 2015.

Registration and allocation of rooms will take place between 10am and 4pm on Friday, August 14, 2014.

It will be followed with the travellers’ mass at 5pm and dinner at 7pm and a night of socialization at 8pm.

A morning mass will begin the activities of Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 7am and breakfast at 8am.

That will be followed by the plenary session at 9am with Very Rev. Fr Prof. Afful-Broni expected to deliver the keynote address.

Brothers and sisters have been advised to wear the marshallan cloth, preferably the blue cloth.

The afternoon session will begin after lunch with lots of music, games, and dancing competition.

Brothers and sisters are encouraged to come along with scrabble, oware, ludo, drafts etc.
It said the day will end with dinner and socialization from 7pm.

According to the schedule of events, a thanksgiving mass would be held on Sunday, August 15, 2015, at 8:30am.
