Homily

Rev. Fr. Felix Acquah-Ghann, who delivered the homily stressed that many Christians are striving for material things in life, but on the day they fall and are buried all the things they acquired would be left behind and it is only the contribution they made to the life of others that would linger on in the memory of the those who knew them.

Rev. Fr. Felix Acquah-Ghann, spoke extensively on the need for all Catholics to make charity their guiding virtue.  Charity he stated is a virtue which lies within the reach of all, whether rich or poor. He recounted the story of an old poor lady who lived in community in the Central Region who always willingly gave out her old shovel to any neighbour who requested for its use.  That was what many people continued to remember her for.

Rev. Fr. Felix Acquah-Ghann challenged Catholics to practice the altruism that is found in Matthew 25: 36-41: where there is somebody’s final encounter with the Lord, “When did I see you naked and clothed you; hungry and fed you; in prison and visited you.etc”

Rev. Fr. Felix Acquah-Ghann called on Christians not to trumpet their works of charity but do it in secret so that the Lord would bless them. The living saints are those who are sacrificing to help their communities either materially or praying for God’s intervention in situations.
