Marshallans in Brong Ahafo to engage in business ventures

THE Brong Agafo Regional Council and Court of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, have decided to embark on income generating ventures as part of measures to reduce dependence on individual contributions of brothers and sisters.

In line with that, the region has listed sachet water production, brick and tile production, cashew cultivation and construction of shops for hiring and investment in the in Marshallan Security trust as some of the ventures to be engaged in.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its regional conference held at the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School, it was agreed that those investments be financed through a levy of Gh¢50.00 to GH¢100.00 per brother and sister a year, invest surplus in the accounts as well as form business investment committee to implement those suggestions.

The communiqué was passed and adopted on August, 1, 2015 under the auspices of the Regional Grand Knight W/Bro D. Y. Dorsaah and Regional Noble Lady Respected Lady Sister Gertrude Kunfaa.

The Supreme Knight’s representative, Sir Kt Anthony Kemavor and the Grand Lady’s representative, Most Respected Lady, Sis. Janet Mmieh, were in attendance.

The theme for the conference was ‘Challenges of the contemporary Catholic family in this era of new evangelisation’.

Plenary session

During the plenary session, the communiqué said, issues of delinquency in the Noble Order, Family life and evangelization, Contemporary challenges in the order and income generating ventures in the Brong Ahafo Regional Council and Court, were discussed.

It said the inability of brothers and sisters to meet their financial obligations, unmet expectations of members such as payments of benefits, promotions, unresolved conflicts, and prolonged time for meetings were identified as contributing to delinquency in the Noble Order.

Resolutions

The communiqué said it was agreed that all councils and courts engaged in income generating ventures, that education and conscientisation before and after initiation of brothers and sisters, that aged and sick be exempted from the payment of local dues and that Grand Knights and Noble Ladies reduce unnecessary repetitions during meetings.

It said the Catholic Church in Ghana be encouraged to adopt multimedia technology in its evangelisation drive and not shy away from it.
