Live as if today was your last day on earth – Very Rev Fr Abankwah

THE 28th Supreme Knight, Sir Knight Anthony Kemavor on May 21, 2016 led the Marshallan Fraternity in the Eastern Region to pay their last respects to the late Sir Knight Joachim Yaw Boateng  Bedjabeng of Council 12.

More than 300 Marshallans attended the Requiem Mass at the St George Cathedral, Koforidua.

The Vicar-General of the Koforidua Diocese, Msgr. Francis Twum Barimah, was the principal celebrant with seven concelebrating priests.

In his homily, the financial controller of the St Dominic’s hospital at Akwatia, Very Rev. Fr. Paul Abankwah reminded the congregation about the mortality of man.

He, therefore, admonished Christians to lead lives without malice in their hearts and to love and live peacefully with one another.

He recounted how the late Sir Knight lived his life, as though he was dying the next day making sure every task assigned to him was properly carried out.

Very Rev Fr Abankwah said Sir Kt Bedjabeng was always willing to share everything he had, including his wisdom.

He encouraged the faithful to emulate those deeds and values of Sir Kt Bedjabeng.

Bio

The late Sir Knight Bedjabeng, affectionately called J.Y was initiated into the Noble Order on 13th June 1987 and was installed Grand Knight in 2003.

He held several other offices in the order and notable amongst them were Reader & Lecturer for Council 12; Regional Secretary from 2005 to 2009; Assistant Supreme Reader & Examiner from 2007 to 2011 and chairman of the Youth Organizers for the Junior Council & Court 6, Koforidua from 2011  until his demise.

In recognition of his dedicated service to the Order, he was elevated to the high office of Past Supreme Knight in 2014.

He was also a two term chairman of the St. George Cathedral Parish Pastoral Council from 1999 to 2002.
