Junior Bro. Melvin Kale-Dery, Secretary to 79 J

Council 94 and Court 90 at Adentan in the Accra East Region of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall on September 20, 2014 gave birth to its junior order, 79J crescent, Mother Most Pure.

The Junior Order is believed to have the youngest Secretary in the Noble Order.

He is nine-year-old Junior Brother Melvin Kale-Dery. Born on 17th March 2005, Brother Melvin Kale-Dery is currently in Class Five at the Victory Presbyterian  Church School at Adenta.

Since the idea of consecration of the Junior Order was made public, the young boy, together with his elder brother, Kelvin Kale-Dery, expressed interest in joining and became very active in everything leading to the consecration.

It was not surprising that Melvin was chosen as the secretary to the order, a position that ordinarily, you will conclude that he cannot do.

But Brother Melvin is up to the task as he eloquently explained to the Supreme Knight, Sir Knight Brother Ekow Painstil, on the day of the consecration, when he was questioned about his role:”My duty is to write minutes and record every proceeding during meetings”.

The Supreme Knight, who was impressed with Junior Brother Kale-Dery, stressed that the Noble Order needed such enterprising young ones who could easily climb to the highest position in the order.

He said he was looking forward to the day, when the Supreme Knight would still be in active public service and not the current situation where Supreme Knights were mostly those on retirement or nearing retirement.

A Parishioner at the St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Adenta,  Brother Melvin is the son of Brother Severious Kale-Dery,  Secretary to the Adult Council 94 and Sister Diana Kale-Dery of Adult Court 90.
