The Deputy Grand Knight of Council No. 78 KNUST, Bro. Dr. Richard Kodzo Avuglah, has been appointed as the Head of Department of Mathematics, KNUST. He assumed office on 1st August, 2016.
Bro. Dr. Avuglah was initiated into the Noble Order on 15th October, 2005 in Council No. 62 London and immediately started acting as Outer Guard before transferring his membership to Council No. 78 when he was employed by KNUST. He has been a very active member of Council 78, serving as the Assistant Secretary and Secretary and on a number of committees. He was installed DGK on 19th December, 2015.
Bro. Dr. Avuglah holds the following academic degrees:
BSc Mathematics (UCC, Ghana);
MSc Financial Mathematics (TU-Kl, Germany);
PhD Applied Mathematical Statistics (TU-Kl, Germany).
As Head of the Mathematics Department, he would be directly responsible among other things for the Department’s Administration. His department which is one of the largest at KNUST in terms of student numbers runs undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Mathematics, Actuarial Science and Statistics.
Richard is married to Sis. Dora Yayra Avuglah (Court No. 74 KNUST). They have three children Esinam, Etornam and Elinam.
