Back your charity with faith – Rev Bro Domelevo

REVEREND Bro Stephen Domelevo, has called on members of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall to back their charitable works with faith.

He said Christian love was backed with faith and without having faith in Jesus Christ, and one could not talk or speak of an act of charity.

He was speaking at a joint retreat organised by Marshallans drawn from Accra Central (Council 74 & Court 67) and New Aplaku (Council 109 & Court 105) at the SVD Residence, McCarthy Hill in Accra on Saturday March 28, 2015.

The programme of activities for the day included rosary recital, Stations of the Cross and holy mass. Among brothers and sisters were the Immediate Past supreme Knight, sir Kt Derx Barffour and the Deputy Accra West Regional Noble Lady, Sis Doris Bramson.

Rev. Bro. Dormelevo SVD, who was the retreat master, gave an exhortation on the theme “Living the faith of Christian charity as a Marshallan”.

He urged Marshallans to sacrifice for their neighbour and the defend the Catholic faith- the teachings of the Catholic Church wherever they foundd themselves.

Rev Bro Domelevo elaborated on the earliest forms of charity works found in the Bible by citing how in the beginning of creation God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden and secondly, God sending His son to die for the sins of man. Christ through his death has taught each one of us all how to be charitable.

“Christ through his death has taught us to be charitable, and to be like Jesus Christ we need faith”, said Bro. Domelevo.

Holy Mass

The holy mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Janusz Schilitz SVD, a retired priest. His sermon dwelt on John 12:24.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. –

Rev. Fr. Schilitz SVD said lent provided Catholics hope to change from our old sinful ways to a new beginning.  He exalted brothers and sisters to listen to our conscience and do the right thing at all times.

At the end of the retreat, the Marshallans donated a refrigerator to the SVD retirement home.
